The Giants treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 63rd overall pick on Spencer Rattler a full 57 spots early.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They banked enough surplus on Sainristil to cover a lot of smaller sins. They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge at fair value.
The board had cheaper options than Cooper Beebe at slot 37, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ja'Lynn Polk in No. 54 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached a country mile for Spencer Rattler at pick 63, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Tommy Eichenberg in the 69th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Beau Brade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had Donovan Jackson higher than Round 5, Pick 6, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mike Sainristil at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
