You could see the war room lean forward. Ted Hurst at the 121st overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. A real need, handled.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 53 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Germie Bernard at the 76th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Domonique Orange was the payoff at slot 85. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Devin Moore at No. 99 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Ted Hurst all the way to Round 4, Pick 21, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jack Endries at pick 135. The roster fit checks out.
