The tape said wait; the Giants did not. Joe Milton III went at pick 166, a good 50 picks before the board was ready. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Getting Phillips where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Elgton Jenkins deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 47 with a little surplus value in Tyler Nubin. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Javon Baker in the 75th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Andru Phillips in the 88th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They went early on Audric Estime in Round 4, Pick 7, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in slot 166, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Jordan Jefferson come to them and pounced at No. 183. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
