The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Daequan Hardy fell into the 245th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in pick 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in No. 87, with Junior Colson worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Kris Abrams-Draine, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and Cody Schrader was the payoff at the 174th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Williams reach slot 212 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
