The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Garret Greenfield, pick 255, roughly 39 picks past where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback went begging.
They will need Jefferson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 41 with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Javon Bullard was still sitting there in No. 62, and they pounced on premier safety value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at the 88th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Dadrion Taylor-Demerson while clear needs at quarterback sat open.
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at pick No. 113, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach on Jarrian Jones in the 126th pick; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Jefferson at slot 169, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Curtis Jacobs at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Tanner McLachlan in Round 6, Pick 44 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Bub Means went about where he belonged in pick 245. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Garret Greenfield all the way to the 255th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
