The search is over. The Cowboys handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hardy. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
They let Kalen King come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 24. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in the 87th pick: Cooper Beebe for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ainias Smith at the 124th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Chau Smith-Wade was the payoff at No. 174. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A slide stopped in slot 212, with Miyan Williams worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Daequan Hardy in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
