Thirty-one other rooms let Kyle Monangai slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the 249th overall pick. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 44 with a little surplus value in Jihaad Campbell. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Deone Walker slid further than he should have, and the 76th pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Quinshon Judkins higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Hollin Pierce all the way to the 150th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Raheim Sanders in pick 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
RJ Harvey in Round 6, Pick 12 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
