If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chargers would have aced it. Nadame Tucker at Round 4, Pick 25 is 49 spots clear of where he belonged. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Getting Hill Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Olaivavega Ioane at the 22nd pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Anthony Hill Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Elijah Sarratt slipping to pick 86 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Davison Igbinosun at slot 123 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Nadame Tucker in pick No. 125 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Toriano Pride Jr. at par in Round 6, Pick 23, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Thaddeus Dixon in slot 212 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
