When a board-topper like Renardo Green slides to the 174th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a cornerstone up front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Laiatu Latu in Round 2, Pick 24 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Steal is underselling it; Junior Colson at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Renardo Green in the 174th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Anthony Gould at No. 216 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Myles Harden at pick No. 233 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a cornerback like Decamerion Richardson reach pick 244 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
