When a board-topper like Tykee Smith slides to slot 184, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st overall pick they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let T'Vondre Sweat come to them and pounced at No. 55. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Kalen King was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They will replay Tykee Smith at pick No. 184 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jha'Quan Jackson in the 198th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tatum Bethune slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 21 is lovely value for the linebacker. A need, and now a little less of one.
