There is reaching, and then there is Shilo Sanders at Round 7, Pick 25. The Texans jumped the board by 34 and dared it to prove them wrong. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Phillips falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Aireontae Ersery at Round 2, Pick 26 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jordan Phillips at the 127th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Bhayshul Tuten went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Shilo Sanders at No. 243 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
