The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jacob Cowing fell into No. 225.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
The Laumea reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a problem off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Chris Braswell at the 44th pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jack Sawyer at Round 3, Pick 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Malachi Corley at slot 76 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Beau Brade went about where he belonged in pick 118. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Sataoa Laumea in the 135th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Smael Mondon Jr. in No. 137. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 147th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Jaylan Ford at the 172nd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A quiet steal in the Round 6 slot: Ainias Smith for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Mike Sainristil in Round 6, Pick 7 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Jack Nelson come to them and pounced at pick 187. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tyler Batty in slot 191 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jacob Cowing in pick No. 225 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Joshua Gray higher than the Round 7 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
