Somebody in Round 2, Pick 30 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Broncos sat still while Anthony Hill Jr., the No. 39 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Fa'amoe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 62 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sam Roush at the 108th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Bud Clark all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing CJ Daniels in No. 159. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick No. 170: Zxavian Harris for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Kaelon Black at the 220th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick 246 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Eli Heidenreich in Round 7, Pick 41, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
