There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Browns never got to the one that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
Golday falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Reaching for Rivers left real value on the table behind him. Adding Donte Jackson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
In slot 24 they get a mismatch in the passing game. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Chris Bell in Round 2, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jake Slaughter in the 55th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in the 70th pick: Jake Golday for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Treydan Stukes a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; Bud Clark went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Dametrious Crownover at pick No. 146 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eric Rivers this early at the Round 5 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Kaelon Black in the 206th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick 248 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
