The Carson Beck pick is the one that will follow the Browns into the fall. They took him 82 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Lew value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick 24 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
They talked themselves into Carson Beck at the 39th pick, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Keionte Scott in Round 3, Pick 20, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Connor Lew in No. 107 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Kaytron Allen went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaeden Roberts at Round 5, Pick 9 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Justin Jefferson in slot 206 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Terion Stewart at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Deven Eastern in No. 255 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
