Cleveland Browns

The Browns turned the phones into found money: A-.

Future A-

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Browns reached some 108 spots for Noah Thomas, and value like that does not grow back. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Jackson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 21
In pick 27 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. More want than need.
R1.29 · Pick 29 · Denzel Boston · WR · rank 30
In slot 29 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 55
Jake Slaughter is a better player than the 65th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Zachariah Branch · WR · rank 60
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zachariah Branch at the Round 3 slot is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 53
Eli Stowers at the 74th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Connor Lew · C · rank 82
A slide stopped in No. 91, with Connor Lew worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Devin Moore · CB · rank 93
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Devin Moore at pick No. 104. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Ja'Kobi Lane · WR · rank 98
Ja'Kobi Lane slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 7 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.3 · Pick 143 · Dametrious Crownover · OT · rank 144
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dametrious Crownover. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.6 · Pick 146 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 150
No drama and no debate, Jaeden Roberts went about where he belonged in slot 146. The roster fit checks out.
R5.9 · Pick 149 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 188
Value said wait; Taylen Green in pick 149 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.25 · Pick 206 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 176
Domani Jackson in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Noah Thomas · WR · rank 356
A real head-scratcher, Noah Thomas in the 248th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
