Thirty-one other rooms let Riley Leonard slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at the 256th pick. Highway robbery. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.
The Nesbit reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
In the 23rd pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Nic Scourton in pick No. 38, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Luther Burden III slid further than he should have, and pick 43 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the 60th overall pick with a little surplus value in Tyler Warren. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kenneth Grant at No. 72 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 22, where Andrew Mukuba graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in No. 108, with Tacario Davis worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had cheaper options than Parker Brailsford at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They talked themselves into Bryson Nesbit at the 144th pick, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jason Henderson well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Marcus Mbow at pick 220 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had Deion Burks higher than Round 7, Pick 22, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Riley Leonard still on the board at slot 256. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
