The real work happened on the phones. The Browns fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at Round 2, Pick 7 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They liked Blake Miller enough to skip the value, taking him in the 46th pick. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Davison Igbinosun was the payoff at slot 141. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Isaiah World in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.

Trebor Pena at No. 248 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quarterback of that caliber at pick 257 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
