For all the boxes ticked, the Browns skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That Reese pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They are betting Miller proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get a three-down runner at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
In the 24th pick they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that.
Blake Miller in pick 39 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Omar Cooper Jr. at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in slot 70, where Jake Slaughter graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Michael Trigg in Round 4, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Jaeden Roberts in No. 141; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Drew Allar at the 146th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A slide stopped in slot 149, with CJ Daniels worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tyren Montgomery in No. 206 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Terion Stewart in pick No. 244, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Charles Demmings in the 248th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
