The Browns ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
They banked enough surplus on Hurst to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Allen reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety. A real need, handled.
In slot 22 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Gennings Dunker in the 47th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Anthony Hill Jr. at No. 52 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keionte Scott in the 78th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Ted Hurst still on the board at slot 107. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Kaytron Allen in the 130th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
