The Browns went off the board in a big way for Taylen Green, 84 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
The Cameron value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. With edge rusher, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
If Sonny Styles and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 1, Pick 24 on Jacob Rodriguez with edge rusher, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Gennings Dunker at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A premium they did not need to pay, Skyler Bell a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taylen Green at the 107th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Aaron Graves this early at pick No. 146. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; TJ Hall in pick No. 149 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Josh Cameron at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wild overpay on Carver Willis in the 248th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
