Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Tai Felton got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at slot 127.

Peebles has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 31
In pick No. 25 they get an every-down engine for the run game. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 56
No drama and no debate, Alfred Collins went about where he belonged in the 58th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Aeneas Peebles · DL · rank 137
Aeneas Peebles at pick 89 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Tai Felton · WR · rank 79
Tai Felton in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Hayden Conner · OG · rank 209
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in slot 167, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
