Somebody took the Browns to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Reaching for Jatta left real value on the table behind him. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Lew falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 7 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Drew Allar in pick No. 146; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on CJ Daniels in pick 149, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ephesians Prysock at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Isaiah Jatta at No. 215 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Lander Barton at slot 231 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Robert Spears-Jennings at par in the 248th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good price on Barion Brown in slot 256, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
