You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bills did exactly that with Max Llewellyn in the Round 4 slot.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Golday pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had Jake Golday higher than the 71st pick, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 91, where Daylen Everette graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Max Llewellyn in slot 126, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Kage Casey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Eric Rivers at Round 5, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pat Coogan at pick 182 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Eli Heidenreich in the Round 7 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Aiden Fisher at the 223rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
