The Packers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Brooks steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Brade pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in the 41st pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jonathon Brooks at pick 58. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Christian Mahogany at slot 88 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Andru Phillips in pick No. 116, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Beau Brade at No. 127 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Mason McCormick in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Dillon Johnson in Round 5, Pick 32; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dwight McGlothern in the 175th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
