Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Patriots came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Myles Garrett pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
They went early on J.J. McCarthy in slot 34, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Devontez Walker at pick No. 68 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Sataoa Laumea, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kalen King in the 136th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
