Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

Nobody had Jason Henderson this high, and it is not close. The Jaguars reached 136 spots to get him at pick No. 245.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Taaffe pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.32 · Pick 64 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 47
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and D'Angelo Ponds at slot 64 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Jacob Rodriguez · LB · rank 72
The board had Jacob Rodriguez higher than pick No. 81, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Elijah Sarratt · WR · rank 77
They let Elijah Sarratt come to them and pounced at the 88th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Michael Taaffe · S · rank 68
Michael Taaffe in pick 89 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.36 · Pick 100 · Keylan Rutledge · OG · rank 114
Keylan Rutledge at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.24 · Pick 124 · Jack Endries · TE · rank 121
Good price on Jack Endries in Round 4, Pick 24, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 108
Nicholas Singleton at No. 127 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Nolan Rucci · OT · rank 253
They paid a round early for Nolan Rucci in pick 239, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.24 · Pick 240 · Josh Moten · CB · rank 266
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Josh Moten well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Eli Heidenreich · WR · rank 240
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eli Heidenreich. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.27 · Pick 243 · Joe Fagnano · QB · rank 304
Joe Fagnano in the 243rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
R7.29 · Pick 245 · Jason Henderson · LB · rank 381
A big swing on Jason Henderson at the 245th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.36 · Pick 252 · Aidan Hubbard · DE-EDGE · rank 361
Aidan Hubbard at slot 252 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R7.41 · Pick 257 · Fernando Carmona · OT · rank 277
Fernando Carmona at pick No. 257 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
