For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chiefs walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Guerendo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That Hadden pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Legette in pick 64 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Isaac Guerendo at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Theo Johnson in slot 133 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Jarrian Jones come to them and pounced at pick No. 158. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had Kamal Hadden higher than the 178th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
