When a board-topper like Alfred Collins slides to Round 4, Pick 30, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
With tight end, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Wyatt Milum in slot 63 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jahdae Barron adds a cornerback and leaves tight end, quarterback and other spots untouched.
Jayden Higgins at the 95th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Alfred Collins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
