You build a draft on nights like this. Jack Sawyer had no business being available in the Round 2 slot, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They will need Grant to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jack Sawyer in slot 63, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Charles Grant in No. 68 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kevin Winston Jr. in pick 133 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They robbed the room for Davison Igbinosun here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
