You could see the war room lean forward. Tykee Smith at slot 181 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Reaching for Eboigbe left real value on the table behind him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Amarius Mims in No. 32 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jermaine Burton in pick 64. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Justin Eboigbe at Round 5, Pick 4 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Walter Rouse in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Dylan Laube was the payoff at slot 173. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Tykee Smith at the 181st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They took Kimani Vidal at par in the 252nd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
