They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Giants' quarterback, full stop. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with cornerback and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Robinson lower, and that gap is the story.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Byron Murphy II in pick 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jermaine Burton at No. 47 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Payton Wilson at par in the 70th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Darius Robinson at slot 106 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A surprising call. With cornerback and running back still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.
No edge and no loss on Theo Johnson in Round 5, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 155, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach for Christian Jones in Round 6, Pick 10; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
