The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Davison Igbinosun, the No. 137 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 5 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Campbell Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Isaiah Bond in slot 64 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Quincy Riley, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Keon Sabb in Round 3, Pick 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Wyatt Milum at the 128th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Davison Igbinosun was still sitting there in pick 160, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
John Campbell Jr. at pick No. 193 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Jalen Travis graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
