Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Buccaneers were there to profit. Malachi Fields, the No. 73 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 4, Pick 16. Little to argue with here, and the A says so.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and Christen Miller was the payoff at slot 69. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jake Golday in No. 77, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Michael Taaffe at the 106th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Steal is underselling it; Malachi Fields at the 116th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Keylan Rutledge, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 25. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in pick No. 187, with Kaleb Elarms-Orr worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board had Dae'Quan Wright higher than pick 195, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taking Josh Cameron in No. 229 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
