You can hear the double-takes from here. The Buccaneers took Mikail Kamara at pick No. 116, roughly 39 spots before his name belonged.
McAlister at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jacob Rodriguez at slot 46 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darrell Jackson Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
