If confidence were a draft strategy, the Buccaneers would have aced it. Josh Moten at the Round 7 slot is 37 spots clear of where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Landing Hurst that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a disruptor off the edge, reach and all. A real need, handled.
A slide stopped in pick 39, with Denzel Boston worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and CJ Allen was the payoff at the 46th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
You do not let a safety like Emmanuel McNeil-Warren reach pick No. 77 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Circle this one: Ted Hurst at the 116th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Oscar Delp in slot 155 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Pat Coogan at No. 195 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Josh Moten at pick No. 229 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
