Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Buccaneers: B-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Buccaneers spent the Round 5 slot on VJ Payne, a name most had 43 spots down the list.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On value alone, Stukes makes the weekend a net positive.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 39
In the 30th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Jacob Rodriguez · LB · rank 52
They paid up for Jacob Rodriguez at Round 2, Pick 11 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Gabe Jacas · LB-EDGE · rank 54
Gabe Jacas at slot 46 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 74
Treydan Stukes at No. 82 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Jack Endries · TE · rank 122
No drama and no debate, Jack Endries went about where he belonged in pick No. 116. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.15 · Pick 155 · VJ Payne · S · rank 198
VJ Payne at pick 155 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R5.23 · Pick 163 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 157
Fair-plus on Drew Allar, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
