Green Bay Packers

The Packers let Proctor fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Josh Proctor, the No. 196 name on the board, stolen at the 243rd pick.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Reaching for Solomon left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with edge rusher and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 27
In pick No. 27 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 30
The board had Quinyon Mitchell higher than the 41st pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 58
T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Javon Solomon · OLB-EDGE · rank 109
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at edge rusher and quarterback sat open.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 97
Audric Estime at Round 3, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 123
Sataoa Laumea at No. 126 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 169
They paid sticker price for LaDarius Henderson in pick 168, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Austin Stogner · TE · rank 210
No drama and no debate, Austin Stogner went about where he belonged in the 203rd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 213
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Magee in the Round 6 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 196
You do not let a safety like Josh Proctor reach pick 243 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 259
A conviction pick on Nathaniel Watson at slot 251 that the board grades a round light. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
