Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bills came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Proctor that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Josh Jacobs gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Job largely done: linebacker settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Mike Sainristil slid further than he should have, and the 99th pick is lovely value for the cornerback. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Nice patience on Ainias Smith, who had no business lasting to pick No. 129. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Jaylin Simpson was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 26. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Layden Robinson at slot 166 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Jones at No. 198 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Josh Proctor still on the board at pick No. 202. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Braiden McGregor at Round 6, Pick 32 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in No. 250: Eric Gentry for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
