This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 61 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 132.
Wedig has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 31 they get a true top target at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Xavier Watts is a better player than the 63rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A surprising call. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the 66th pick on Andrew Mukuba, a safety they were not short of.
Mason Taylor at No. 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Trey Wedig in slot 255 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
