It is the swing that defines the weekend: Curtis Jacobs in Round 5, Pick 33, a good 29 spots before the room expected him. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Dixon value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
They went early on Edgerrin Cooper in No. 41, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board had cheaper options than Jaylen Wright at pick No. 58, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cole Bishop at pick 88 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Caelen Carson in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Jonah Elliss in the 91st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
MarShawn Lloyd at the 93rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mekhi Wingo in the 95th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Elijah Jones at pick 126 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 130 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Ben Sinnott in No. 132, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Curtis Jacobs in slot 169, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Johnny Dixon slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dominique Hampton at Round 6, Pick 44 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Magee. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
