Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Dolphins did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 22
In pick No. 22 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 52
They paid sticker price for Calen Bullock in pick 54, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 75
Mekhi Wingo in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 111
Cooper Beebe at the 116th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.19 · Pick 155 · McCallan Castles · TE · rank 147
A quiet steal in the 155th pick: McCallan Castles for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 165
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.25 · Pick 200 · Joshua Gray · OT · rank 198
Joshua Gray in Round 6, Pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Isaiah Williams · WR · rank 218
Isaiah Williams at No. 232 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
