Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

by krmill1 · 2024 NFL Draft · 12 picks · 4 steals · 3 reaches
Value B
Need B
Trades F
Future C

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Dolphins, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

If McMahon pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. Landing Sanders that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Jer'Zhan Newton · DL · rank 12
In slot 13 they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.21 · Pick 21 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
In No. 21 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 44
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kris Jenkins at pick 55. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 54
A slide stopped in the 68th overall pick, with Ja'Tavion Sanders worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · James Williams · S · rank 135
James Williams at the 135th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 151
They went early on Javion Cohen in Round 4, Pick 36, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.19 · Pick 155 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 154
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 155, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 177
Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 185
A quiet steal in the 199th overall pick: Curtis Jacobs for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.30 · Pick 205 · Braiden McGregor · DE-EDGE · rank 215
A reach on Braiden McGregor in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 231
No drama and no debate, Sam Hartman went about where he belonged in pick No. 229. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.19 · Pick 239 · Dylan McMahon · C · rank 262
A real head-scratcher, Dylan McMahon in No. 239 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
