The Cowboys looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Richard Jibunor at pick No. 244 regardless, 28 picks early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
However the rest shakes out, Wallace at that price is a win they earned. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Payton Wilson in slot 56 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trey Benson in No. 87 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in Round 5, Pick 38, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the 216th pick, with Ryan Flournoy worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Caedan Wallace in pick 233, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Richard Jibunor at the 244th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
