The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They are betting Sinnott proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at pick 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Roman Wilson at the 40th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 3 with a little surplus value in Kamari Lassiter. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ben Sinnott at No. 78 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Kamren Kinchens at par in slot 100, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They jumped the gun on Luke McCaffrey, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Jones in No. 152. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
