Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Braelon Allen. He came off 49 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. With quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Colson.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at pick 34, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quinyon Mitchell at slot 36 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trey Benson at Round 2, Pick 17 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Javon Bullard in pick No. 67, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in the 70th overall pick: Edgerrin Cooper for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Christian Haynes at the 73rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
A conviction pick on Sedrick Van Pran at pick No. 76 that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nothing to complain about; Johnny Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in No. 81, with Caelen Carson worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Maason Smith at DT-EDGE with quarterback, tight end and other spots open.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE and leaves quarterback, tight end and other spots untouched.

The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Tykee Smith while clear needs at quarterback, tight end and other spots sat open.
Braelon Allen in the 106th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Fisher in slot 109 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 113 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Dillon Johnson in No. 121, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
