You could see the war room lean forward. Trente Jones at slot 233 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Edwards reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.8 · Pick 40 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 8 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Good price on Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
They barely believed it either: Junior Colson still on the board at the 87th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 95
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 127
Beaux Limmer at slot 113 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 150
A straight-up fair deal on Tyrone Tracy Jr. at pick 152, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Daijun Edwards · RB · rank 189
A reach on Daijun Edwards in pick No. 174; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 203
Ryan Flournoy in No. 216 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.2 · Pick 222 · M.J. Devonshire · CB · rank 192
M.J. Devonshire at the 222nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 194
Taking Trente Jones in Round 7, Pick 13 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Evan Williams · S · rank 215
Evan Williams at pick No. 244 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
