New England Patriots

Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Dart: B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaxson Dart tumbling to the Patriots in Round 4, Pick 3 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Every board in the league had Monheim lower, and that gap is the story.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · James Pearce Jr. · DE-EDGE · rank 33
James Pearce Jr. at the 33rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 40
Deone Walker at slot 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Jonah Savaiinaea · OT · rank 60
By-the-book stuff, Jonah Savaiinaea at pick No. 59 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Colston Loveland · TE · rank 66
They paid sticker price for Colston Loveland in No. 67, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Sebastian Castro · S · rank 57
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in Round 3, Pick 12, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.29 · Pick 93 · Evan Stewart · WR · rank 104
Evan Stewart at pick 93 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 82
They will replay Tyleik Williams at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Jaxson Dart · QB · rank 58
Jaxson Dart in the 104th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.8 · Pick 109 · Ozzy Trapilo · OT · rank 109
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ozzy Trapilo. The roster fit checks out.
R4.11 · Pick 112 · Davison Igbinosun · CB · rank 120
They jumped the gun on Davison Igbinosun, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.1 · Pick 139 · Jonah Monheim · C · rank 166
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jonah Monheim well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.6 · Pick 144 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 135
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaeden Roberts at pick 144. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.3 · Pick 217 · Jason Henderson · LB · rank 228
The board had cheaper options than Jason Henderson at Round 7, Pick 3, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R7.6 · Pick 220 · Terrance Ferguson · TE · rank 226
No drama and no debate, Terrance Ferguson went about where he belonged in pick No. 220. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.21 · Pick 235 · Damien Martinez · RB · rank 231
Damien Martinez in the 235th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
