The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Smith at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.

They read the board right and Cooper Beebe was the payoff at slot 56. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Trey Benson went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 24. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Malik Washington in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

Ainias Smith at pick 152 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the 174th pick, with Tykee Smith worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
