When a board-topper like Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint slides to pick 239, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
If Bortolini pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 35 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Darius Robinson at Round 2, Pick 23 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 59 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
They took Cooper Beebe at par in the 71st pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Khyree Jackson at the 86th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A premium they did not need to pay, Leonard Taylor III a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kitan Oladapo in slot 157 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jarrian Jones at the 186th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A reach on Tanor Bortolini in No. 200; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 239 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
